About Saltair

Down a dirt road, resting above the solitude of the shores of the Bay of Fundy, Saltair Nordic Spa & Wellness combines an authentic Nordic experience with the best Nova Scotia has to offer, whole-heartedly aligning with the natural elements of the Annapolis Valley’s North Mountain and the changing tides of the world-famous Bay.

From the pools or fire bowl seating, you can see Cape Split to the East and Isle d’Haute to the West. You can smell the salt air in the trees. You can hear the water hitting the shore in the acoustics of the Mountain. You can feel the tide changing. At the end of your stay, you feel the change.

We believe that greater well-being can begin with:

A mindful guide,
An authentic experience,
A moment in nature,

A moment for self.

June and Jenny both loved wellness practices that focus on breath, movement, and rest.

They realized that time in nature restores our nature. They found that seeking this from within a community made the experience more meaningful. They both knew the healing power of salt air. From Baxter’s Harbour on the Bay of Fundy, you can see Cape Split to the East and Isle d’Haute to the West.

You can smell the salt air in the trees. You can hear the water hitting the shore in the acoustics of the Annapolis Valley’s North Mountain. In seeking the best practices, whether they were ancient Nordic or modern Netherlands, they believed in the power of guides and gathering others who believed in the same. And Saltair Nordic Spa & Wellness was born.

The Nordic Tradition

The elements of the North Mountain and the Bay of Fundy are in natural alignment with Nordic tradition, including sauna, steam, cold plunge, rest and relaxation.

The Nordic cycle of hot, cold, rest is a relaxation ritual that has been practiced for over 2,000 years in Nordic countries and it has many studied and proven health benefits:

  • It stimulates blood circulation and the lymphatic system, detoxifying and improving the immune system

  • It reduces inflammation and swelling, which can relieve pain and soreness in the muscles and joints

  • It releases endorphins, which are natural chemicals that create a sense of well-being

  • It cleanses and tones the skin. It encourages better sleep patterns as the cycle relaxes the nervous system

At Saltair we believe that if this experience occurs in a natural setting, it also inspires our reconnection to nature and our own natural state.
